GRAPLE Dinner Program  -- Arlington.

Review of Graple Dinner by Participant:

Update on the NOVA Tea Party's GRAPLE Dinner on Tuesday evening:

"I'm glad that I made time to attend the The GrassRoots Action Planning Learning Evening, sponsored by the NOVA Tea Party on June 1st, at the Yorktown Bistro in Arlington.  I always come out of these events refreshed, recharged and rejuvenated, with renewed energy to continue the pressure for positive change. It was an inspiring and educational event.  The evening's topic was Saul Alinky's Rules for Radicals, which has been a hot discussion topic since the Obama administration and groups closely tied to the administration make use of these strategies in the pursuit of their political agendas."

"David Denholm, the speaker for the evening, gave an interesting recap of and detailed the organizational tactics encapsulated in the "Rules". Particularly relevant to the widely diverse, and highly active citizenry, sometimes referred to as the "Tea Party Movement" is "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it".  One thing to keep in mind here, is that the strength of this movement has been its undulating and unpredictable nature, flowing like water and resisting any categorization."

"Another good observation from the "Rules" is that "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have." This country's grassroots groundswell of disenchanted Americans not only has real power invested in it by virtue of the Constitution, but we have a powerful and visible image that speaks to the concerns of real Americans. We have the potential to inspire myriad others to exercise their own latent power, take action and effect real change."

"Eric Cary, candidate for State Senate in Maryland, took time to come to this event and rallied the large group in attendance.  For anyone who hasn't heard him speak, he is very charismatic, funny and right on target with his comments and observations."

"We had also invited the Congressional candidates from the 8th District to an informal Meet and Greet before the main event. Matt Mosely, Libertarian candidate, was there as was Matthew Berry, one of the Republican candidates for the 8th.  Patrick Murray, the other Republican candidate, was not in attendance."

"I hope to continue to see such large, educated, informed and enthusiastic crowds at future events. It was a great networking opportunity for those who attended.""
